How was your Polynesian experience?

Many of you know I post my trip reports and I like to be honest about my experiences at the Polynesian and other Disney resorts. Well even with that some think I just like to say that the Polynesian is better than the other resorts and only tell the good stuff about the Polynesian. Those of you who have been reading my stuff for a long time know I can be hard on the Polynesian about how they do things but I wanted to give people a chance to read what I read from people that email me after a trip so I decided I will do an article every once in a while with some of the emails sent to me. These will be in their words and after I ask permission to post them. If you would like to post a report, send it to me (with or without photos) and let me know if you want your name posted with it or not.

Maybe even the management at the resort will read these (as they do some of my pages) and it will help them know what is working and what is not.

Rust family review

rust022“We stayed in the Samoa Longhouse, room 3601, corner room. This room was located directly across from the stairwell and down just a few steps from the elevator and ice/vending machines. We loved the location. As you can see in a couple of our pictures, the view from our balcony was perfect for people watching and resort gazing. We were in close proximity to the GCH and to the pools and rust04beach. Everything really is more intimate than I first though. Not a long walk to anything really. I may opt for saving for the Hawaii Longhouse next time. I think the view and Club Level may be worth it. We thought the girls would love the Volcano pool more…we ended up really digging the Quiet pool. Less crowded… more family time. Loved the beach also. Wonderful place to have a Pina Colava and watch the Monorail whirl by headed to the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom.

rust01We have never stayed at the Polynesian Resort. Needless to say, we (my husband, Bill, and daughters, Jennifer, age 10 and Ashley, age 15) were all very impressed and immediately put in a relaxed state of being. You have been there many times and are trained to see the imperfections now, I’m sure. We were in heaven! The music was soothing, the tropical atmosphere and plants were beautiful. The staff were super accommodating and helpful especially Joshua – concierge.  We were “Aloha-ing” everyone and it took us no time to “get with the program”. It’s expensive, no doubt about it. We had prepared for almost a full year to pay off rust03the package and save enough to enjoy ourselves and eat decently.  Bummed the dole whip machine was broken for 3 out of our 7 days of stay. My daughter, Ashley LOVES them now. We are eager to go back but I realize that if we make this our vacation/resort of choice, we will start to see the imperfections, notice the paint chipping and witness the not so “magical” moments that Disney has to offer because the bottom line is nothing is perfect. For now though, I’ll treasure the wonderful vacation I had with my family and thank you from the bottom of my heart for offering such an in depth view of the “Poly” for people to view and plan for their sometimes once in a lifetime vacations.

rust05I hope the people of Disney and the Polynesian Resort take the time to realize what you have done for their resort. If they don’t, atleast know its appreciated by many guests of the Polynesian Resort who might not have visited if it weren’t for your website and appreciation for a great place for get some much needed R & R….. Polynesian style.”

 Review from the Drumm family

drumm01“Hi Tikiman! You guided us just perfectly in our last inquiry on which longhouse to request considering out intent to spend lots of time at the Volcano Pool.. They granted us a room in Samoa but only had 2nd floor available over the patio request. Also our view was of the Quiet pool but we were at the end of the hallway and the exit door led right out to the Volcano pool. We were just opposite of Hawaii. Room 2613.  Worked out perfect. It was closer to use the bathroom in our hotel room then to use the bathrooms out by the pool! Thanks for your great advice and we can\’t wait to return!

Being so close to the pool didn’t matter that we couldn’t get the patio. We ate at Captain Cooks for quick service which completely suited all of our tastes. Absolutely loved ohana for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Kona. The meals all around in all 3 restaurants were delicious. Zero complaints. We are trying out the Grand Floridian in October just because we feel the need to explore all options but I think our hearts will bring us back to the Polynesian after that.”

 The Snider review

snider01“Tikiman, thank you for all the help in planning our trip last week.Your website was such a great source of info for what was an incredible vacation at my family’s all-time favorite resort in the world.  The smells, vistas, flora, warm smiles, and general atmosphere practically force you to relax.  What a great feeling to walk in the GCH before or after visiting the parks.  Many times,
instead of walking from the TTC monorail stop to our room.  We chose to wait for the next stop at Poly just to walk through the GCH, then to our room at Tokelau.

We ate at ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe’, & Captain Cook’s.  Incredible food!  ‘Ohana just can’t be beat!  Thanks again for helping us plan what was a vacation my family will never forget.

John, Angel, Emily, Drew, & Luke”
