News
Well the recession is hitting Disney with layoffs company wide and cutbacks on amenities. The Polynesian will be reducing some of the entertainment you see around the resort. Hopefully they will not all be let go but find other things to do until things pick up. I know many of us enjoy Kaleo playing guitar in the Tambu Lounge and Kuulei and Aunti Kaui doing Hawaiian crafts in the lobby. I hope they are not affected by this.
As of December 14th the Tambu Lounge will no longer have a musician and as of December 13th the Polynesian will have its last tourch lighting ceremony at the main entrance to the Great Ceremonial House.
Lets hope things pick up and these things come back.
Polynesian stuff
Some happier news. I always love seeing stuff written about the Polynesian by other Disney fans. Makes me realize I am not the only one out there that enjoys the resort. Jim Hill just posted a nice article about the Polynesian with some great photos from Jeff Lange. Make sure to go over and check it out.
We are getting into the details about Tikifest so make sure you let us know as soon as you can if you are going to attend. Disney will not let Magical Vacations post the rates for the discounted park tickets or rooms at the Polynesian or Beach Club but you can request a quote and see how great a deal it is. Even with Disney’s new deal where you get the passes and nights at the resort free it ends up being cheaper with the group rates for Tikifest but availability is limited on the rooms. Also if you are a travel agent trying to get rate info with fake quotes, be careful because Magical Vacations has a new way of telling if your request is bogus.
We are all feeling the affects of the economy and this is a way to reduce the cost of your trip without reducing the amenities. Also we all get together outside the party for some fun times so I hope to see you there in August.
