You have the Monorail located on the second floor of the GCH that makes a stop at the Grand Floridian, the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). You also have buses that you can board at the bus stop at the Polynesian.

So you say the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary have all that too? Yes but the added bonus of staying at the Polynesian is the TTC is a short walk next door to the Polynesian which gives you quick access to the EPCOT Monorail. If you don’t want to walk you can ride the Resort Monorail around to the TTC and switch to the EPCOT Monorail.

To go to Downtown Disney Marketplace, Pleasure Island, West Side and Typhoon Lagoon you will board the bus at the resort bus stop. To go to any of the other Disney Resorts you need to take the bus to Downtown Disney and then pick up the resort bus to your resort of choice, or take a bus from the Magic Kingdom to any resort.

Having the TTC next to the resort has been such an important thing to many of the people who have stayed at the Polynesian. In many cases it is easier to walk from your room to the TTC to get on a monorail or bus. Besides using the busses and monorails at the TTC there is access to the large ferry that is docked there, especially for anyone with strollers or a disability that puts them in a wheel chair. Since the smaller boat is difficult or impossible to use if you have a stroller you don’t want to fold up or a wheelchair you cannot get out of, than you can take the short path to the TTC and get right onto the ferry.

The bus over next to the Neverland kids club will take you to Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. The Polynesian buses make stops at the Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge Resort (depending on the time of year it changes), than the Polynesian and then the Grand Floridian.

Another easy way to get to and from the Magic Kingdom easily and without waiting in lines by using the Motor Launch transportation (boat) at the end ot the marina dock. It makes stops at te Grand Floridian on the way back from the Magic Kingdom but on the way there it is a direct route. One last transportation option for getting to the Wilderness Lodge is by taking the Motor Launch over to the Magic Kingdom and taking another boat over to Bay Lake.

There are two Monorails that loop around the Seven Seas Lagoon. The inner track is the Resort Monorail (which will sometimes require a resort I.D. to board) and the other is the Express Monorail on the outer track that only goes from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom.

Tikiman Tip
Many people don’t want to spend the money to rent a car especially when they are not leaving Disney Property, and Disney does have some of the best transportation you will ever see, but I have found it much easier and a big time saver to have a rental car for some destinations. If you have ever made reservations and you were running late the car will save you. Also when visiting parks and don’t want to pack everything you think you may need on your back, you can leave it in the car. The last reason is that to go from a park to some other destination otherthan back to a resort you must go to the closest resort and wait for the bus to your destination (example MGM to Down Town Disney). You can survive without a car but it makes life easier and your time from one place to another faster. Remember as a Disney Resort guest you have free parking at all Disney locations.

One thing that sets the Polynesian apart from not only the other Deluxe Resorts but even the other Monorail Resorts is its access to Disney transportation.
