Well I am back from the guys trip and working on the trip report but I had a few updates. The resort looks great from what I could see. There are still some rooms in Tahiti that still do not have all the new design items. Not sure why it takes them years to get that building done but they did finally fix the numbers on the outside of the doors. Last time there were makeshift numbers in place on many of the doors.
‘Ohana did change its menu a little but nothing too drastic. They brought out a bowl of salad with what use to be the dips for the wantons to put over it. Seemed strange but it was good. There were than some pork pot stickers, some chicken wings, mixed vegetables and a replacement for the potatoes was like a chow Mein noodle. I liked the noodle but Sean was disappointed in the potatoes not being there and did not like the noodle. I liked the potatoes better but the noodles were good and were more with the theme. The shrimp was back on the skewers and was good as ever along with the beef, pork and turkey. No sausage. They still finished up with the ice cream covered bread pudding with Bananas Foster Sauce. You can read more when I post the trip report.
They are trying out a sushi bar at the Kona Island Café location. there is a menu for a sushi bar at the Kona Coffee bar. You can read the menu at All Ears http://www.allears.net/menu/men_sushi.htm
The only work going on around the resort was replacing the walkways with new textured cement (actually it is a salt finish) as seen in the photos.
There is a new room rate structure this year where you not only have Value, Regular, Peak and Holiday seasons but you have special rates for additional holidays in those seasons and from 2/14-3/29 and 12/19-12/31 you now have one rate for weekdays and another rate for weekends so your rate will change once you hit the weekend by $20 more. I will write up and post it here soon.
There is now a new desk on the 2nd floor of the GCH for the PhotoPass.
