Facts about Moorea Longhouse

Moorea may seem isolated back in the corner of the resort but actually the walk from the longhouse to other spots of the resort is not usually very long. You will see often I write down walk times and the walk from Moorea is argued on discussion forums as to how long the walk is. Sometimes the walk can be confusing since there is a maze of paths just outside Moorea but you can usually get back to the Great Ceremonial House in 3-5 minutes depending on 2015-01-09 7-43-45your walking speed. Some request Moorea because it is right next to the Transportation and Ticket Center to access the monorail in a minute or two. This was the first longhouse I ever stayed in so I will always have fond memories of it. I think it has the best lagoon views outside of Hawaii but be aware that the ferry to the Magic Kingdom is right next door and does like to blow its horn. Moorea will be the only DVC building to have villas with Lake View rooms outside the bungalows.

Some tips if staying in  Moorea

DVC Moorea mapbThere is a small parking lot next to Pago Pago (right across from Moorea) that would be a better place to park if you have a vehicle. Also use the path in front of Hawaii when going to the pool or boat instead of weaving in and out around the internal paths of the resort. If you are caught in the rain at the Great Ceremonial House and need to get to Moorea, go out the door of the Great Ceremonial House to Rarotonga and go through to the end, then out the doors go to the left through Tokelau and go to the end, then make a right and go in the end of Moorea. This should minimize your exposure to the rain.

The views from Moorea are some of the best on the Lagoon side. Even with the bungalows blocking part of all of the castle from some ground floor rooms, you can still see the fireworks from the ground floor and on the upper floors the castle is visable. This building is the only location for the DVC laundry but the new laundry room has a way to check available machines using your phone and it can even tell you when it is done. Check the laundry room for instructions.

Each floor has a nice sitting area to relax and enjoy also.
