Erin shared her story with me about a special Cast Member that went above and beyond what he needed to do as his daily job. Sometimes it takes more thought than effort to make a big difference in a persons visit to the resort. Here is her story of how a Cast Member made a difference in her visit to the Polynesian.
On our recent trip, we were the only family on our Magical Express bus arriving at the Polynesian. When we stepped off the bus, CM Pete was waiting at the curb to greet us — which in and of itself is always very nice. What made the moment extra special, though, was that he directed the greeting at our 10-month-old son, Reed, welcoming him immediately by name, letting him know that it was so special that he brought his family to Disney, and telling him that Mickey couldn’t wait to meet him. Pete had Reed’s First Visit pin in hand, and after taking some group photos for us, helped Reed lead us all to the lobby. (Pete then stayed with us while we were checked in, helped our 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son conduct their very first pin trades, and even made sure that my son’s stuffed dinosaur got his own welcome lei.) Pete’s attention to detail made for such a special start to our trip — and the first time visitors with us were instantly wowed by the magic of the Disney experience. For me, it was a lasting and memorable moment — to have our littlest traveler immediately greeted by name, as if all of Walt Disney World had been just waiting for him to arrive!
