Construction at the Resort
There is construction going on at the longhouses. A while ago I had information that the roofs were being repainted and some of the wood on the stairways was being replaced. I just got information that Fiji was closed for the work to be done to the stairs. In the past I have seen them do this work and not close the buildings but this was on some of the longhouses that have smaller exterior stairways. Fiji, Aotearoa, Samoa, Niue and Rarotonga have larger deck/ sitting areas as part of the buildings so it maybe that is what is being replaced and they need to close the longhouse to do the work.
Fiji was scheduled to reopen and Aotearoa was scheduled to close today. I don’t have any more of the schedule but I have updated the rehab info on the longhouse pages that I have info on. As of the schedule Aotearoa is scheduled to reopen on June 1.
Reports from people returning say it was not a distraction to their trip and most did not even notice it. I found this to be the case when I have stayed at the resort during construction or rehab so I would not worry about it unless a building you wanted to request will be closed during your stay.
When I find out more I will post it. If anyone gets any other official information on this or photos of what is going on please send me an email.
Changes to the Concierge lounge menu
The other change I was just informed about was about the menu at the concierge lounge. Magical Vacations was gathering information for their club level guests and found out that the menu is no longer being used. They will still have different themed nights and from recent visitors I am told it is still like the offerings listed on my site, but they will not have set days and the menu is subject to change. This is not out of the ordinary. In the past they never had a menu or set days and it was sort of a surprise what was going to be served.
