Disney’s Hawaii Resort, Construction, New Merchandise …

News
Well we are all busy I am sure and there is nothing better than a great vacation at a great price filled with fun and great friends to keep us going through the day to day stresses. It is still a way off but we are getting plans going on Tikifest 2009 so let us know if you are going to attend. It is important we have a good idea of totals and we want to make sure we don’t go over at the end and have to tell people there is no more room or discounted rooms available.

Also the Polynesian and the Tikiroom are not the only place that Polynesian spirit and Disney spirit collide. Ground breaking is going to begin this week in Oahu on Disney’s new resort in Hawaii.

This is what the November 11, 2008 Honolulu Advertiser had to say:

“Disney plans a traditional Hawaiian blessing and ground-breaking next week to mark the start of construction for its new family resort at the Ko Olina Resort & Marina development. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 19.

The company said the ceremony will include: Jay Rasulo, chairman, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona, Sen. Colleen Hanabusa; Honolulu Managing Director Wayne Hashiro; Djuan Rivers, Vice President of Disney Vacation Club Hawai’i, and Jeff Stone, master developer of Ko Olina Resort & Marina.

The Disney resort at Ko Olina, scheduled to open in 2011, will have more than 800 units including hotel rooms and villas for Disney Vacation Club, Disney’s timeshare division. Disney Vacation Club has grown to serve more than 350,000 individual members from approximately 100 countries and all 50 states. Upon completion, the resort is expected to create nearly 1,000 jobs in Hawai’i and cost an estimated $800 million.”

Construction around the resort
I know it is only November but this is just a heads up for those planning on traveling to the Polynesian in January.

The Luau Cove will be closed from January 13-17.

Also keep in mind that the Pool usually gets some attention the middle of February to March but no schedule has been announced lately.

New Tikiman stuff
Well next year I might have a new Tikiman graphic for the shirts so get the original while it is still available. I also added a Christmas version on a sweatshirt for those going during Christmas and if the weather is anything like it was when we went during Christmas you will need this!

Well I am off to Disneyland and from there Florida so I will get back to your questions or comments when I am home.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
